OUR STORY / MARINEBRANDS.COM.AU

About MarineBrands.

Two sailors in the making.
One place to get to know the brands on board.

We’re Gabriel and Kristy, the couple behind MarineBrands and YouSail.

Our dream is simple. Buy a sailing yacht, move aboard and see where the wind takes us. Australia first. Then the Pacific. Maybe much further.

We’re not there yet. We’re still learning, taking courses, spending time on boats and asking a lot of questions.

Getting to know the names on board

One question kept leading to another: who makes the equipment we’ll rely on?

Which brands make sails for the way we want to sail? Who builds the navigation gear, ropes, engines and safety equipment? Where do we find their product information, and who do we talk to in Australia?

The answers were scattered across manufacturer websites, retailers, forums and conversations. We wanted one place to bring the brands together, explain what they offer and point us towards the people who know their products.

That’s MarineBrands.com.au. It’s the marine brand directory we wanted for our own research, built by two sailors in the making.

Learning as we go

We’re not going to pretend we’ve tested every product or sailed with every piece of equipment in this directory. We haven’t. We’re learning as we go, and sharing what we find.

The product information comes from the brands and the sources linked on each page. Our guides help you understand the options and prepare better questions. The final conversation belongs with the manufacturer, sailmaker, dealer or installer who understands your boat and the equipment.

MarineBrands now also covers fishing, personal watercraft, motor cruising and organised powerboat sport. Our sailing story is the starting point; the directory is built for a wider life on the water.

If you represent a marine brand, work with boating or fishing equipment or like what we’re building, we’d love to talk. Email gabriel@yousail.com.au.

Somewhere out there is the yacht that will become our home. Getting to know the equipment that will go aboard is part of finding our way there.

For the wider journey and everything else in Australian sailing, from schools and clubs to charters and brokers, head to yousail.com.au.

See you on the water.
