COUNTRY, HISTORY & PRODUCT GENERATIONSWhere the brand began.
- Country of origin
- United Kingdom
- Time in the industry
- About 70–71 years of brand history in 2026
B&G’s anniversary material uses both 1955 and 1956. Zeus S has a documented January 2023 announcement. Those dates describe brand heritage and a product launch; they do not establish that every current model has been manufactured continuously since then.
Calendar-year comparisons as of 2026. Origin means the brand’s beginnings, not the manufacturing country of every product. The history sources below document the distinction.
QUALITY / WHAT THE EVIDENCE CAN TELL YOULook beyond the badge.
B&G’s most distinctive proposition is sailing information: the relationship between measured wind, boat motion and what the crew sees. Assess quality through the complete installation: sensor inputs, calibration access, display readability and a usable support record. A premium processor cannot establish the accuracy of an unverified sensor.
Compare a demonstration on the proposed system with the manufacturer documentation. Ask the dealer to show the sailing functions you intend to use, identify retained equipment and explain the commissioning plan. Existing independent reviews below concern particular products; they are not a durability score for the whole range.

THE PEOPLE & THE PROVENANCEThe story behind B&G
B&G grew around sailing instrumentation rather than general consumer electronics. Its own anniversary material contains two dates: the company description says it has served sailors since 1955, while the 70-year announcement in 2026 describes a history beginning in 1956. We retain that distinction instead of giving a falsely precise founding date.

B&G’s published origin dates differ within its anniversary material.

Zeus S announced on 19 January with a new operating system and sailing modes.

MEET THE BRANDPut your sailing data to work.
A useful cockpit display helps the crew make sense of the sailing day. B&G builds its range around that task, connecting chartplotters, instruments and sailing processors for cruising and racing programmes.
A system built around sailing
The Zeus S chartplotter brings together charts and sailing-specific views, with modes for different stages of a trip. For a crew comparing electronics, it offers a way to think about the helm as a connected system: position, wind, boat speed and route information each have a part to play.
From a display upgrade to a fuller refit
B&G’s instruments and processors extend the range beyond the chart screen. A processor such as Triton Edge focuses on sailing calculations and calibration, while dedicated instrument displays keep selected information in view. What is available on screen depends on the equipment and sensors connected to the boat.
Start with your existing equipment
Before discussing a refit, list the instruments, transducers, steering equipment and network already aboard. An Australian dealer can use that starting point to help define a package and identify which parts of an existing installation can be retained.
BEFORE YOU SHORTLISTIs B&G a fit for your boat?
A sailing-focused shortlist: compare how the proposed display presents wind, course and boat data during the jobs your crew actually performs. A dedicated instrument and a chartplotter solve different viewing needs, even when connected to the same system.
For an upgrade, map the complete chain from sensor to processor to display. Ask the installer to identify which functions remain available with your retained equipment and which depend on additional hardware or configuration.
